Hen and Stag Weekends
Very
few experiences are more alcohol-soaked and debauched than a Prague
stag weekend. The capital of the Czech Republic is internationally famous
for having cheap alcoholic drinks and a passion for consuming these drinks.
The truth is that you will find plenty of entertainment of the daytime and nocturnal
variety in this beautiful city. While a stag weekend may well end up in one
of the city's famed lap dancing clubs, a Prague
hen weekend is more likely to finish the night partying at the Roxy nightclub
or stylish Kent Universe bar, both in the city's 'old town' area. Daytime delights
include the world famous Staropramen
Brewery (where they brew much more than just Staropramen) and the fantastic
observation tower
(pictured) from which you can see all over the beautiful city. Incidentally,
Prague has some of the finest public transport in Europe (and beautiful underground
stations to boot).
Another popular choice with British grooms is an Amsterdam stag weekend. Famous as a liberal and liberated city, the Dutch capital has everything for a great lads weekend, including great nightclubs, affordable restaurants, famous brothels and infamous coffee shops. One word of advice for anyone visiting Amsterdam - be sure to arrange these amusements in the correct order. What could possibly be worse than heading to a nightclub with barely enough energy to walk? Of course, all the best planning in the world may well be worthless during a stag night in Amsterdam as things have a way of 'happening' there.
In Spain, two popular choices are a Madrid hen weekend and a Barcelona stag weekend. The two cities have very distinctive characters but share a passion for entertainment, culture and the arts. One of the great lures of Barcelona for stag weekends is the chance to see one of Europe's great football teams play in one of the world's great stadiums - FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou. This may not mean as much to a typical hen night, but the chance to see a legendary team play at home doesn't come up too often. Madrid is famed for excellent restaurants and arguably the most vibrant nightlife in Europe.
Further east in Europe, a Tallinn stag weekend or Tallinn hen weekend promises something for the more adventurous stag or hen. For anyone who has 'done' Prague and Budapest, Tallinn is the new vogue destination for that final, pre-marital blowout. The Estonian capital is very beautiful and still welcomes tourists with open arms, which will come as a relief to anyone who has felt the occasionally blunt end of Czech hospitality or any bad vibes on a Krakow stag night. Of course, an amount of hostility can be understood when stag nights end up excessively drunk, as they occasionally do.
For a truly welcoming hen night Cardiff is another option. The capital city of Wales offers a clubbing experience like no other - the locals party harder than any other city in the UK, according to pretty much anyone who has ever had the pleasure of a night in Cardiff.
